IPA regional project

The Central Bank of Montenegro is a beneficiary institution of the IPA regional project titled “Programme for Strengthening the Central Bank Capacities in the Western Balkans with a view to the Integration to the European System of Central Banks”. The Deutsche Bundesbank coordinates the project activities with the support of the ECB and 19 national central banks members of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB).

The Project aims to strengthen monetary and financial stability in the region and prepare beneficiary institutions for future membership of the ESCB. The Project was officially launched in March 2019 and is intended for central banks and banking supervisors from the Western Balkans.

The Project’s activities are divided into two components. The first one includes trainings and high-level workshops in the areas covered by the project (banking supervision, recovery and resolution, consumer protection and financial inclusion, financial stability, statistics, payment system, internal audit, accounting, monetary policy, and EU integration/harmonisation). The second component covers areas implemented on a bilateral basis in cooperation with selected partner central banks.
