The European Commission’s Montenegro Report 2024, presented on 30 October 2024, noted that “the Central Bank of Montenegro does not have a central register of non-resident accounts, a crucial tool for investigations”. Given this situation and the importance of having such register for combating financial crime and aligning regulations with international standards, we provide with the following
INFORMATION
Article 65a of the Payment System Law mandates that the Central Bank shall maintain the Central Registry of Transaction Accounts, including data on non-residents effective from 4 August 2021.
The Decision Amending the Decision on the Content of the Central Register of Transaction Accounts (OGM 53/21 of 27 May 2021) stipulates the obligation of banks to submit data on transaction accounts of non-residents from 4 August 2021.
The CBCG regulates in detail the content of the Central Registry of Transaction Accounts, the data to be submitted for the registry, the method of submitting data and how to obtain the data from the Registry.
