24/06/2025
The CBCG organised a workshop on digital communication in financial literacy in cooperation with the World Bank. The event brought together representatives of supervisors, state administration, educational and other institutions that are signatories to the Memorandum of Cooperation for Implementing the Programme for Financial Education Development in Montenegro 2023–2027 and the representatives of banks operating in the Montenegrin market.
The goal of the workshop was to strengthen institutional capacities for designing and implementing educational activities through digital channels, using modern communication tools and tools. Participants had the opportunity to learn about global trends in digital communication, exchange experiences and receive specific recommendations for creating content that contributes to greater visibility and understanding of financial topics.
The CBCG Governor Irena Radović opened the workshop highlighting the CBCG’s strategic commitment to financial literacy and inclusion and adaptation to modern communication trends.
“In our Strategic Plan for the period 2025-2028, we have clearly set priorities: the development of digital services and the strengthening of open and two-way communications with citizens. Today’s workshop is a step in that direction - because digital channels are not an objectives by themselves, but a means to better understand the needs of citizens and to provide them with the right information timely and in the right way,” said Governor Radović.
On behalf of the World Bank, Christopher Sheldon, the Country Manager for Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina addressed the participants.
“The World Bank strongly supports the Central Bank of Montenegro in its efforts to make the financial system in Montenegro more efficient, inclusive, and focused on the needs of citizens. In this context, we especially thank Governor Radović for her leadership and commitment to making financial education a national priority,” said Sheldon.
The workshop program is led by Aaron Wesley Korenevsky, Senior Public Affairs Specialist at the World Bank, while the experience of Banca d’Italia in promoting financial literacy through digital channels and the campaign was presented by Maria Iride Vangelisti from the Financial Education Department.
During the day-long program, the workshop covered topics such as trends related to creating interesting educational content on social networks, communication with different target groups, monitoring and measuring campaign effects, and the like. Participants also had the opportunity to create short educational video messages through practical exercises using available digital tools.
Today’s workshop is part of the Payment Systems Modernisation Project and the Remittances and Payments Program, which the World Bank is implementing in partnership with the CBCG under the auspices of SECO (Swiss Secretariat of Economic Affairs), with the aim of strengthening financial literacy, including the development of accessible and relevant educational content and tools, adapted to the modern needs of citizens.
The CBCG and the World Bank continue their intensive cooperation on developing financial literacy and inclusion, believing that only well-informed citizens can make responsible financial decisions and actively contribute to the economic development of the community.
