Babies born during the “Savings Week” receive the gift of 400 euros
31/10/2021
On the occasion of 31 October, World Savings Day, the Central Bank of Montenegro has been carrying out the “Savings Week” campaign for the eighteenth consecutive year under the slogan “First step towards the safe future”.
All commercial banks operating in Montenegro traditionally joined the campaign that includes donating the first savings to babies born from 31 October to 6 November 2021.
All children born during the “Savings Week”, whose parents open a savings account in any Montenegrin commercial bank, will receive 200 euros from the CBCG. They will also receive additional 200 euros, along with a savings book, from the commercial bank that parents select. In this way, all children born in the mentioned period receive their first savings in the total amount of 400 euros as a gift. The amount of 400 euros will be deposited for one year. After that period expires, parents can withdraw money or deposit for savings. Parents may open a savings book only in one commercial bank, with an ID card of both parents and a birth certificate for the newborn child.
Owing to this campaign, nearly 2,500 babies received their first savings in the previous seventeen years. The CBCG allocated almost 500,000 euros for this purpose.
Within the “Savings Week”, the CBCG also organises educational activities for young people - workshops in Montenegrin primary schools on money, savings, banking and banking products, and online lectures for high school students.
This year, the Central Bank has also published the first issue of the CBCG Financial entertaining magazine for children and youth on savings, distributed to schools in hard copy. It is also available in PDF format on the CBCG website.
