The CBCG Governor, Irena Radović, met today with Her Excellency the United States Ambassador to Montenegro, Judy Rising Reinke.

Governor Radović informed Ambassador Reinke of the current situation in the banking sector, which, according to the operating ratios and its adherence to international practice, standards and regulations, “is the Montenegrin economy’s soundest part”.

The Governor informed Her Excellency of the CBCG’s future agenda. Speaking of plans for the upcoming period, she noted that the CBCG would be fully committed to strengthening the stability and resilience of the financial sector, which will mainly affect our country’s economic development and the standard of its citizens.

Highlighting the importance of preserving Montenegro’s Euro-Atlantic orientation, H.E. Ambassador Reinke expressed the US’s readiness to support reform processes that would bring Montenegro closer to EU membership and strengthen its credibility as a NATO ally.

“The US Embassy remains steady in cooperating with the CBCG in the initiatives focusing on further strengthening Montenegro’s financial stability”, said H.E. Ambassador Reinke. The interlocutors agreed that there was space for opening cooperation on the further empowerment of women and financial education of the general population, primarily entities that may affect the financial market directly or indirectly. They also agreed on preventing money laundering and terrorist financing as an area requiring due attention.
