“Erste Bank is a systemically important participant in the Montenegrin banking market, whose business indicators confirm its success and good market position”, concluded today's meeting of the CBCG Governor Radoje Žugić with the Board Member of Erste Group Bank AG, Ingo Bleier, member of the Management Board of Steiermärkische Bank und Sparkassen AG, Austria, Georg Bucher, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Erste Bank AD Podgorica, at the same time Chairman of the Board of Directors of Erste & Steiermärkische Bank d.d., Croatia, Chirstoph Schoefboeck, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Erste Bank AD Podgorica, Aleksa Lukić.

Discussing the Montenegrin banking market’s situation, it was stated that the banks were stable, adequately capitalised, and continuously recorded positive business indicators. Non-performing loans also declined in 2023. Erste Bank has this ratio below the system average, confirming the sound quality of assets and the adequate management of credit risk.

The interlocutors agreed that more dynamic economic growth was necessary to overcome all the challenges in Montenegro. In this direction, Mr Bleier emphasised the Erste Group’s willingness to continue supporting domestic investments and business based on economically sound grounds.
