Meeting with the Head of the EU Delegation

The Governor of the Central Bank of Montenegro, Radoje Žugić, met today with the Ambassador Aivo Orav, head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro.
The Governor Žugić informed the Ambassador Orav on the current situation in the financial system. He pointed out that the banking system is characterised by the stability and safety, as well as the growth in all key operating indicators - lending activity, deposits and assets.

The Governor and the Ambassador also discussed on the activities that the CBCG is taking to resolve the situation in the Atlas Bank and IBM Bank. “The payout of the guaranteed deposits that started yesterday is efficient and has been executed in accordance with the legal procedures”, said the Governor, and added that the fact that large number of depositors opts for depositing the recovered deposits in banks is encouraging. “This is a confirmation that the confidence in the banking system has been preserved and that the situation in these banks did not have negative impact on the system”, said Žugić.
The Governor presented to the Ambassador Orav the activities the CBCG is taking to improve the regulatory framework and strengthen its resources, particularly in the supervision and payment system areas.
The Ambassador Orav showed appreciation for the information presented stating that the Central Bank is extremely important participant in the EU negotiation process.
