Minister of European Affairs and CBCG Governor: Focus on European Integration

The Minister of European Affairs in the Government of Montenegro, Ms Maida Gorčević, visited the CBCG today to meet with the CBCG Governor, Ms Irena Radović. During the meeting, they discussed the key challenges and achievements in Montenegro’s negotiation process and the EU path.

Minister Gorčević outlined the Government’s ambitious agenda for closing the negotiation chapters, stressing the determination to speed up Montenegro’s European path. “The recognition of our efforts by our European partners and concrete developments on our European path encourage us to continue working and fulfilling all the obligations, with even greater commitment,” said Minister Gorčević.


Governor Radović highlighted the CBCG’s concrete steps in fulfilling the requirements for joining the European System of Central Banks (ESCB). In addition to continuous work aligning domestic legislation with the acquis communautaire and improving institutional capacities, the Governor particularly highlighted progress in the payment system modernisation, including Montenegro’s recent accession to the SEPA system. They agreed to expedite the adoption of the necessary regulations to enable citizens and the economy to benefit from SEPA membership’s benefits as soon as possible.


Both Minister Gorčević and Governor Radović praised the cooperation between the Government and the CBCG, viewing it as strong example of joint commitment to the primary goal of achieving Montenegro’s membership in the European Union.
