Ambassador of Austria Visits the CBCG

The Ambassador of Austria to Montenegro, H.E. Mr Christian Steiner, visited the CBCG today, where he met with the Governor, Ms Irena Radović.
Governor Radović congratulated His Excellency on his new position and expressed her belief that he will further strengthen the partnership between Montenegro and Austria during his mandate. The Governor informed Mr. Steiner about the current state of the Montenegrin banking sector, emphasising its stability and positive trends of key balance sheet positions. The Governor also informed Mr Steiner of the significant regulatory activities of the CBCG in meeting pre-accession obligations and of intensive activities regarding Montenegro’s accession to the Single Euro Payment Area (SEPA).
“In addition to prudent supervision and maintaining the system’s financial stability, the CBCG focuses on continuously improving the regulatory framework and its aligning with EU standards”, said the Governor. She thanked Austria for its long-term strong support, especially highlighting important cooperation with the National Bank of Austria (OeNB) to meet the standards for future integration into the EU and the European System of Central Banks (ESCB).
H.E. Ambassador Steiner praised the CBCG efforts in helping Montenegro join the SEPA system and reaffirmed Austria’s continued support for Montenegro’s European integration.
Recognising that economic integration in the Western Balkans is vital for regional development and stability, both sides expressed their commitment to contribute fully to further improving Montenegro’s economic ties with the region and the European Union within their competencies.
