CBCG Issues Commemorative Coins Marking Its 25th Anniversary
07/04/2026
On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, the CBCG has issued commemorative coins – a gold coin of 10 perpers and a silver coin of 1 perper.

The new collector editions are dedicated to this important milestone of an institution that has safeguarded and enhanced the financial stability of Montenegro for 25 years.
The obverse of both coins features the denomination, the coat of arms of Montenegro, the inscription “Montenegro” and the years “2001–2026”, while the reverse depicts the building of the Central Bank of Montenegro Money Museum, alongside the Central Bank’s logo and the inscription “25 years”. The conceptual design of the commemorative gold and silver coins was created by Mr Nenad Šoškić.
The commemorative gold and silver coins, produced using a special proof technique, will soon be available to interested buyers.
This issue is of particular value as it continues the Central Bank’s tradition of issuing commemorative and collector coins dedicated to dates of special importance for the state and society. This is the fifth such series, following issues marking the anniversary of the establishment of the Central Bank of Montenegro (2002), 100 years since the minting of the first Montenegrin state currency (2006), ten years of Montenegro’s restored independence (2016), and 20 years of the Central Bank’s operations (2021).
During 2026, the CBCG also plans to issue two additional series of commemorative coins. The first will mark 20 years of Montenegro’s independence, through the issuance of a commemorative gold and silver coin. The second will commemorate the discovery of a new endemic plant, Petrolamium crnojevicii, and the 35th anniversary of the Declaration on the Ecological State of Montenegro, on which occasion a commemorative silver coin will be issued.
