CBCG Visits the EBRD
10/06/2024
The CBCG delegation, headed by the Governor, Ms Irena Radović, visited the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) today.
As part of the visit to the EBRD, high-level meetings were organised to discuss improving cooperation between the two institutions and planning future joint activities.
At the meeting with Mr Francis Malige, the Managing Director for Financial Institutions and a member of the advisory body to the Executive Committee and the EBRD President, numerous economic topics were discussed, with a particular focus on the need to improve access to sources of financing in Montenegro, especially for vulnerable categories of the population. They also discussed intensifying the cooperation between the CBCG and the EBRD to strengthen further the Montenegrin regulatory and supervisory framework, as well as concrete initiatives supporting the green transition and implementing ESG standards in the financial system.
Director Malige emphasised the EBRD's readiness to intensify cooperation with the CBCG, which aims to strengthen financial stability and improve Montenegro's economic environment.
Governor Radović and Director Malige signed today the Memorandum of Understanding between the CBCG and the EBRD on implementing the WE Finance Code project. This document specifies further steps in implementing this project, whose primary objective is to unlock women's economic potential by improving access to sources of financing for Montenegrin MSMEs managed or owned by women.
Today's meetings confirm the commitment of both institutions to the improvement of cooperation aimed at improving the economic environment in Montenegro and building a greener and more resilient future.
