European Union supports the CBCG through the IPA 2016 project

Today, the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG) received equipment for the Data Centre, within the first set of project activities under the “Supply of Equipment for Strengthening Capacities of Relevant Institutions Involved in Competitiveness and Innovation Sector in Ministry of Economy - IPA 2016” project. This project is part of the Annual Action Program of the Instrument for Pre-Accession Support IPA for 2016, implemented by the Ministry of Economy with the support of Montenegro’s Ministry of Finance - Directorate for Finance and Contracting of the EU Assistance Funds (CFCU) and company Čikom.


Equipping the CBCG “Data Centre” will enable the fulfilment of requirements within the negotiation Chapter 9 - Financial Services of strengthening the conditions for ensuring a high level of data security within the CBCG information system following the EU standards and practices. The technical improvement of the Data Centre within the IPA 2016 instrument provided the CBCG with horizontal support in terms of improving the financial services’ flexibility, security, availability and energy efficiency.


The overall objective of this EU-funded project is to support institutions responsible for improving the business environment, aligning the internal market with the requirements of the acquis communautaire under the negotiating Chapter 1 - Free Movement of Goods, Chapter 3 - Freedom to Provide Services and Chapter 9 - Financial Services.


The project is funded under the IPA II 2014 - 2020 and implies the procurement of equipment for institutions responsible for strengthening the competitiveness and innovation of Montenegro’s private sector following the EU requirements, including the Ministry of Economy, Inspection Directorate, Accreditation Body, Institute for Standardization, and the CBCG.


In the coming period, this project will provide equipment for other institutions within the Competitiveness and Innovation sector to create adequate conditions for the prevention of irregularities in the work of economic and financial entities, freedom of movement of goods and services, and creating a better business environment.


The total project’s budget amounts to 1,230,098.00 euros, of which EU funds 90%, and the national co-financing amounts to 10%.
