Further improved cooperation between the Banque de France and the CBCG

The CBCG Governor, Radoje Žugić, and his team met today with representatives of the Banque de France - Head of the International Banking and Finance Institute (IBFI) Jean-Luc Quémard and Head of Sector within the IBFI, Stéphane Gourdet.

Governor Žugić presented the interlocutors with the economic situation in Montenegro, with a particular emphasis on the banking system and the activities of the CBCG towards bringing Montenegro closer to the European Union. The Governor pointed out that supervision, payment system, and prevention of money laundering are essential for the CBCG.


“Given that Montenegro is a candidate country for joining the EU, the Banque de France is very interested in improving bilateral technical cooperation with your institution,” said Mr Quémard and added that this visit was organised to review the modalities of future cooperation between the two institutions.


During the rest of the day, the Banque de France and the CBCG representatives will discuss specific proposals for establishing and strengthening cooperation in the coming period.
