IMF Technical Mission Started: Stress Testing of CBCG Balance Sheet
05/05/2025
The implementation of the IMF technical assistance in the CBCG balance sheet stress testing began today. The mission will take place from 5 to 16 May 2025 through the direct work of IMF experts and the CBCG teams of the Central Bank of Montenegro. It is part of the support of the IMF’s Monetary and Capital Markets Department (MCM).
The mission will focus on developing an advanced model for balance sheet projections along with a model for analysing CBCG revenues and expenditures, including the impact of SEPA adherence on income structure from payment transactions. The mission will also deal with the assessment of the effects of implementing the national TIPS-based instant payment system, develop the methodology for forming reserves and the structure of risk-based fees to preserve the CBCG’s financial resilience, analyse the efficiency of operational expenditures and make a comparative analysis through international indicators, and strengthen internal capacities through the training of employees for the application of developed analytical models.
The IMF’s technical assistance is crucial to improving the CBCG’s financial management. Its findings will play a significant role in Montenegro’s preparations for EU accession and alignment with European regulatory and operational standards.
