Slovenia and Montenegro will boost economic cooperation

Governor of the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), Mr. Radoje Žugić met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Montenegro, Mr. Gregor Presker.

The interlocutors agreed that Slovenia and Montenegro have excellent relations and active bilateral cooperation.


The Governor informed the Slovenian Ambassador about the current situation in Montenegro’s banking sector, pointing out its stability, well capitalisation and high profitability, as well as the continuous growth in assets, capital and deposits over the last year. On the other hand, interest rates and non-performing loans have been recording declining continuously.


Governor Žugić emphasised that the CBCG maintained high-quality cooperation with the National Bank of Slovenia and thanked Ambassador Presker for the support provided by Slovenian experts to the CBCG team in the preparations for implementing the independent asset quality review (AQR) of Montenegro’s banking sector.


They agreed that it is necessary to strengthen the economic cooperation between the two countries in the coming period, primarily through projects of strengthening Montenegro’s output capacities.
