Statistics: examinations conducted, objections considered and measures imposed
In 2023, the Central Bank conducted eight regular on-site examinations of creditors aimed at assessing compliance with the regulations governing consumer lending. In the reporting period, the Central Bank issued a written warning to seven creditors, ordering them to remove the irregularities that were found during the on-site examinations of the creditors. In addition, misdemeanor proceedings were initiated against one creditor and its responsible person before the competent misdemeanor court.
In accordance with its powers, the Central Bank considered and acted upon 92 submitted complaints from clients of credit institutions and users of financial services, who were dissatisfied with the actions of banks and financial service providers. Acting on the complaints submitted, the Central Bank conducted 51 off-site examination of creditors. As a part of regular activities to protect the rights of users of consumer loans, the Central Bank issued preventive warnings to 13 creditors, pointing out to their obligation to comply with the regulations governing the area of consumer lending and adhering to the principles of good business practices.
