Payment System Indicators in the Payment Systems of the Central Bank of Montenegro in August 20261
National payment traffic is processed through the CBCG infrastructure via three payment systems: the RTGS system, the DNS system and the IPS system.
The payment systems of the Central Bank of Montenegro are available for the execution of payment transactions 365 days a year.
In August 2026, over 31 working days, a total of 1,478,729 orders were processed in the Payment Systems of the Central Bank of Montenegro. Of this total, 32.48% were orders processed in the RTGS system, 57.73% in the DNS system and 9.78% in the IPS system.
Compared with the previous month, total payment traffic in the CBCG Payment Systems in August 2026 decreased by 6% in terms of the number of orders and by 8% in terms of their value.
The value of payment traffic processed in the Payment Systems of the Central Bank during August amounted to EUR 2,401,304,951, of which 88.96% was processed in the RTGS system, 9.98% in the DNS system and 2.06% in the IPS system.
The average daily volume of processed payment traffic, expressed in terms of the number of orders, amounted to 15,495 orders in the RTGS system, 27,539 orders in the DNS system and 4,604 orders in the IPS system.
The average daily value of processed payment traffic amounted to EUR 68,131,339 in the RTGS system, EUR 7,733,659 in the DNS system and EUR 1,596,452 in the IPS system.
During August, over 31 working days, the payment systems of the Central Bank were continuously available, resulting in 100% availability of all systems.
On 20 July 2026, another national payment system officially commenced operations – the Payment System for the Execution of Instant Credit Transfers in Montenegro (IPS system).
The IPS system enables the transfer of funds within just a few seconds, 24 hours a day, every day of the year, including weekends and national and religious holidays.
The IPS system enables the execution of instant credit transfers for orders in amounts below EUR 3,000.00.
All 11 banks in Montenegro participate in the IPS system.

Processed Payment Traffic in the Payment System of the Central Bank in 2024
In 2024, over 253 working days, i.e. 137,885 minutes of production time, 14,614,125 orders were processed in the Payment System of the Central Bank of Montenegro (RTGS system and DNS system), of which 5,659,486 orders (38.73%) were processed in the RTGS system and 8,954,639 orders (61.27%) in the DNS system.
The value of payment traffic processed in the Payment System of the Central Bank of Montenegro (RTGS system and DNS system) amounted to EUR 24.7 billion, of which EUR 23.33 billion (94.16%) was processed in the RTGS system and EUR 1.44 billion (5.84%) in the DNS system.
