Measures Imposed for Misdemeanours
Acting upon the Central Bank of Montenegro’s requests for instigating misdemeanour proceedings, in 2023, the Misdemeanour Court in Podgorica passed a decision imposing a pecuniary penalty in the amount of EUR 30,000 on a credit institution for a misdemeanour referred to in Article 373 paragraph (1) item 12) and in connection with Article 172 paragraph (3) of the Law on Credit Institutions. For a misdemeanour referred to in Article 374 paragraph (1) item 23) and paragraph (2) and in connection with Article 232 paragraph (1) of the Law on Credit Institutions, a pecuniary penalty was imposed on one credit institution in the amount of EUR 5,000 and on a responsible person in that credit institution in the amount of EUR 500.
With regard to the misdemeanour referred to in Article 374 paragraph (1) item 21) and in connection with Article 233 paragraph (1) of the Law on Credit Institutions, the Central Bank of Montenegro issued a misdemeanour warrant against one credit institution imposing a pecuniary penalty in the amount of EUR 10,000 to one credit institution. In addition, due to the misdemeanour referred to in Article 374 paragraph (2) and in connection with Article 233 paragraph (1) of the Law on Credit Institutions, the Central Bank issued a misdemeanour warrant against a responsible person in that credit institution, imposing a pecuniary penalty in the amount of EUR 1,000.
